Despite this, the film still gets ones attention if only from the chilling gaze of Railsback/Manson, and a reminder of crazy times, and people. It's well worth a watch. I would have given 4 stars but for the terrible packaging the DVD came in. Weak, flimsy, bendy, easily breakable, front and back full of huge holes presumably in order to save on manufacturing costs. Considering I paid $14 for this I would have expected something a little more sturdy. It (the DVD case) went straight in the bin literally within minutes of opening the Amazon bubble wrap envelope it was delivered in. I happened to have a spare case I could use. Good movie though. I was anxious to view it again after all these years and I wasn't disappointed. For anyone who wasn't born yet or paying attention at the time, this is as good as it gets - a realistic and effective portrayal of the psycho and his followers, many of whom still pop up in the news from time to time for parole hearings.
